Archer's goal is to deliver value to customers as rapidly as possible. To support this, we are increasing the efficiency and speed of software engineering and deployment. We are adding staff to our cloud operations team to support transformation of our Development and Operations teams. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer who has a passion for enabling rapid deployment pipelines and working with cloud infrastructure.
You will have an opportunity to support Archer’s ongoing large-scale AWS cloud initiatives. This will involve you working closely with skilled Development and Operations teams, using your experience to ensure that all needs are met as part of code and infrastructure deployment.
Your expected responsibilities include installing and supporting system software, performing system updates, managing/monitoring alerting functions, performing capacity planning, and conducting version management. You will work closely with more senior engineers in architecture, operations, and development to ensure a seamless IT support for Archer products.
Job Responsibilities
- Infrastructure and architecture responsibilities for all database systems and related subsystems, including backup strategies, maintenance plans, disaster recovery, and patching
- Configuring database monitoring and remediating database issues
- Provide production support as needed
- Participate in and improvement of disaster recovery tests
- Administering cloud database infrastructure and continuously improving database resiliency
- Supporting our cloud technologies and services, including system outages and customer requests
- Configuring MS SQL Server for development, production, and non-production environments with best practices, tuning, and optimization
- Automation of database related activities using third party applications, PowerShell, AWS services
- Primary focus on maintenance and support of existing technologies
- Participating in team On-Call rotations
- Participating in resolution of technical issues with Dev and Ops teams
Experience
- 3+ years as MS SQL DBA with mid to strong level knowledge of MS SQL Architecture and internals
- 2+ years AWS EC2/RDS
- 2+ years Windows Server administration including Active Directory
- Familiarity with scripting, IDEs, and version control systems
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Undergraduate degree in CS, IT, Data Science, or related field/equivalent work experience
Pluses
- Experience in regulated industries with compliance requirements
- Experience with running SQL on Linux
- Understanding of DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering
- Database development experience
