Prepares and completes tax returns and reports as well as resolves issues and inquiries from both internal and external customers involved with various tax filings and liabilities. Responsible for meeting all required deadlines. Maintains current knowledge of all tax laws affecting the company. Reviews proposals for tax implications, and recommends actions that meet the business plans while managing the tax liability.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes by reconciling tax general ledger accounts
  • Assist with monthly sales tax compliance by compiling and reviewing relevant sales tax reports before submitting to third party preparer
  • Coordinate and request payments for reoccurring and one-off tax filings
  • Collaborate with multiple departments on obtaining required data for tax compliance, tax provision, etc.
  • Act as sales and use tax contact to address tax issues on customer invoices and vendor invoices
  • Knowledge of multistate resale and exemption rules and work with external customers to proactively maintain a current repository of certificates
  • Update and maintain tax calendar to ensure accurate and timely filings
  • Support on-going tax projects and interact with various external tax providers
  • Manage other tax requirements including locality taxes, business license tax, property tax, etc.
  • Assist with the administration of state sales and use tax audits and respond to notices from various taxing authorities, when applicable
  • Research relevant tax issues and document conclusions

What we’re looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline is required
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Tax experience including not limited Indirect Taxes (sales and use tax, property tax), Corporate Income Tax and VAT/International tax
  • Strong computer skills; proficiency in Excel and Microsoft 365
  • Strong technical research skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail while maintaining big picture awareness
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail
  • The capacity to work alone or as part of a team

Bonus points for:

  • Preferably a combination of experience in Big 4 public accounting and private corporate tax experience
  • ASC 740 tax provision experience
  • Experience with NetSuite, OneSource, Anybill, PTMS systems (or similar systems)
  • Experience with tax research tools CCH, Bloomberg, or RIA
  • Technology and/or SaaS industry experience
